Central Florida home with Tesla Powerwall battery backup
Sumter · Lake · Marion counties · SECO members

Your co-op buys your solar at wholesale. Keep it instead.

SECO credits exported solar at the wholesale rate — then sells you power back at retail. A Tesla Powerwall stores your own production for your own evenings at full value, and when the rural lines go down, it keeps the well pump, fridge, and lights running automatically. No solar? It's still the backup that doesn't need a fuel run.

The co-op math

Sell at wholesale, buy at retail — that's the leak.

It's on SECO's own website: exported power earns the wholesale rate, while the power you pull back costs retail. Every kilowatt-hour you store and use yourself skips that spread entirely. And out here, the same battery is the difference between an outage and a non-event.

Your personalized numbers

See what your home qualifies for.

Rural lines get restored last — and out here an outage doesn't just mean dark rooms, it means the well pump stops. Storm season is the deadline; the calm months are the install window.

Questions, answered.

Is the wholesale-credit thing real?+
Yes — it's SECO's own published explanation of net metering: exports are credited at the wholesale power rate, not the retail rate you pay. We'll show you the co-op's page and your own bill side by side at the review.
Do I need solar?+
No. Without solar, the Powerwall is automatic storm backup — including the well pump. With solar, it also captures the value the wholesale crediting gives away.
How is this better than my generator?+
It starts itself, needs no fuel, makes no noise, and is charged before the storm arrives. Keep the generator as plan B — most members stop using it.
Is there a rebate?+
No co-op battery rebate exists here, and the federal residential credit expired at the end of 2025. The math stands on the wholesale-vs-retail spread and the backup — no imaginary discounts.
What does it cost per month?+
Most members start with one battery for a low monthly payment on the financed price. We show every number and confirm against your real SECO bill before anything is signed.
